Honest answers to fair questions

Why are you doing this?
Visibility. One showcase build tells Perth what 2nd Dawn does better than any ad, and every genuine entrant is someone we'd love to build for one day. That's the whole strategy.
What's the catch?
There isn't one, but there is a share you pay: approx. $300,000 under a fixed-price contract, plus earthworks and siteworks, service connections and landscaping. Entry itself is free.
What does "approximately $300,000" mean?
The exact figure is fixed in the signed building contract once the design is settled for your specific block. It's locked before construction starts, and it can't rise afterwards.
What's excluded?
Earthworks and siteworks, service connections, and landscaping. They vary too much block to block to promise a fixed number, so we exclude them and say so everywhere.
What if the winner and 2nd Dawn can't agree the contract?
There's a 60-day window to settle the contract after the design is agreed. If it can't be settled, the prize may be offered to the next highest-scoring entry on the same criteria.
Is this a lottery?
No. It's a judged competition, a game of skill under WA rules. Your written entry is scored against published criteria. Nothing is drawn from a hat at any stage.
Can I enter if my land is outside Perth Metro?
Not this time. The build needs to be somewhere we can deliver at this standard, so entry is limited to the Perth metropolitan area.
Who sees my details?
